School- partnership Cologne - Mamelodi/ South Africa

The ongoing co-operation between Cologne and Pretoria has existed for about seven years. Through the contact between teachers of the "Blüchergymnasium" and the "Deutsche Schule Pretoria" a partnership grew, that offered an exchange to pupils from Cologne and Pretoria. The exchange programme has been in place since 1999 and is supported by the ministry for children, youth and family of the city of Cologne.

Help in South Africa- Day- Care- Centre for children

In co-operation with its South African Partners the Arbeiter-Samariter-Bund supports orphans and children in South Africa. Tumahole is a township belonging to Parys that is situated 130 km south-western of Johannesburg and has approximately 120.000 inhabitants. The Day-Care-Centre "Lehlohonolo" -the ASB is supporting is in the poor area of Tumahole. Daily the staff of the centre takes care of about 150 children who also receive a health treatment.
