Exchange of qualified employees in the work with people with disability Exchange programmes for 2007:
In August 2007 an exchange programme of professionals who work with people with serious and severe disabilities of the Cape Mental Health Society and the Lebenshilfe of Berlin will take place. The focus of the exchange will be on "Participation of People with Mental and Severe Disabilities". In summer 2007 will be the next ASA student- exchange programme. - Visit of representatives of South African Organisations working with people with disability/ Berlin, November: During the two-weeks- visit in Berlin, Ingrid Daniels (Cape Mental Health Society) and Mike Toni (Disabled People South Africa) exchanged and discussed the improvement of the employment of people with disability with German experts. The intention of the meetings and discussion rounds with experts of the Integration Office, the Labour Exchange, various Integration companies and political representatives, was to include the needs of people with disability and these experiences in the political discussion in South Africa. The launch of the first Integration company of South Africa by the CMHS in April 2007 is going to be a practical pilot, which can be an important step forward for implementing the Employment Equity Act.
- In November 2004, 8 delegates from Berlin visited South African partners in Cape Town. The members of the German delegation "Jobs for people with disability" were representetives of NBW (workshops in Berlin), the Integration office and Integra gGmbH - a integration company.
...more - CMHS in Berlin: In 2003 a group of 5 delegations from South Africa visited the Parity Association, the Lebenshilfe/ Berlin, Mosaik- Services Integration company and NBW in Berlin.
...more - In 2002 social workers of the Cape Mental Health Society stayed for a practical training with St. Martin- an organization for the rehabilitation of people disability.
...more Two staffs from the Cape Mental Health in Cape Town came for a practical training of 3 weeks to Germany. The stay was high valued- The South African guests were able to gain a lot of important experiences and knowledge for their work in Cape Town.
...more Qualified employees from South Africa get to know german organizations working with disabled people/ 1999. 5 South African social workers took part in a german seminar. They wanted to get to know different structures and methods in the rehabilitation of people with disabilities and transfering them to their work in South Africa.
