The Cape Mental Health Society (CMHS) was founded in 1913 as the first institution in South Africa to support mentally impaired people.


Providing opportunities
CMHS aims to open up opportunities for children with mental disabilities to develop their potential and to help affected adults find their way into everyday and working life through workshops and supervised jobs. In addition, public acceptance towards mentally and/or physically impaired people is to be increased in order to thus strengthen their targeted inclusion in society.
What you can expect
As a volunteer, you have the opportunity to get involved in at least one of the three projects provided by CMH. Depending on whether you want to work with children or adults, mentally or physically disabled people, or more in the administrative area.
