KiTa Farbenfroh | Schacht-Audorf
The kindergarten “KiTa Farbenfroh” is a small kindergarten with children aged 1 to 6 years.
In Germany, kindergartens are an essential component of child and youth work and of early education. The focus is on social learning and getting to know the everyday world.
What you can expect
As a volunteer you will support the teachers in caring for the children. In addition, you can plan and implement your own small projects for leisure activities, as well as accompany excursions and trips. Furthermore, you will help to prepare meals for the children and you will also take care of the household.
About the project
The day care centre Farbenfroh is a kindergarten for children between 1 and 6 years of age, from very young to just before school age. A total of three groups of children are accommodated here.
The nursery is located in the north of Germany, in Schacht-Audorf near Rendsburg. Rendsburg is well known for being located right on the Kiel Canal, the world’s busiest artificial waterway, which connects the North Sea and the Baltic Sea.
The work in the day-care centre follows the so-called “situational” approach. This means that the children’s topics are taken up when they are topical and important, so that the work is constantly adapted. Every day, the children decide what they want to do and can always experience new adventures.
The volunteers are fully integrated into the life of the day care centre. The staff at the day care centre is happy when the volunteers do handicrafts with the children, sing, do sports, build sandcastles, accompany them on excursions, read to the children and much more. In general, the volunteers are seen as a great enrichment to the “colourful” (name of the day care centre) and colourful world in the day care centre. Due to the bilingual education, the volunteers will speak most of the time with the children in English.
