Siyakwazi - Integration Company | Cape Mental Health Society
Health project
Siyakwazi is Xhosa and means “we can do it”. The project aims to integrate people with mental and/or physical disabilities more into the rest of the population and to achieve a basic social acceptance towards them.

Chances for a better future
The so-called trainees receive education and training to increase their independence and their social and communication skills. Depending on the severity of the disability, the participants go through different stages. The aim is to enable them to integrate into the open labour market, which offers better opportunities for their future. As part of the “Training Workshop Unlimited” (TWU) programme, it is similar to the German system of “Werkstätten”.
What you can expect
As a volunteer at Siyakwazi, you will support the trainees in their work in the garden service. Together you will load the trailer with gardening tools, drive to the customers’ gardens and design the garden according to their ideas. This gives you the opportunity to get to know the different regions of Cape Town and to establish close contact with the trainees.
